Electricity Rates Comparison Solar vs Utility: Electricity Rate Savings

The PPA Model

A Unique Partnership Opportunity

Distributed Sun (D-Sun) develops, builds, and operates commercial solar systems – rooftop, ground mount, and carport – financed through Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).  Our host clients buy the electricity generated by D-Sun’s solar systems at contractually determined rates that are below the cost of conventional electricity.  These rates typically drop to zero after the 20 year PPA term expires (typically 20 years), creating major long term savings.

The complexities of design, procurement, engineering, procurement, construction, policy and finance can make solar projects seem daunting.  We simplify this complex process using proprietary analytical tools to create a manageable and transparent process for our partners.  For projects to be selected for development and receive finance, they must pass our rigorous Aquiris™ project selection and truSolar™ underwriting criteria.

Using these proprietary tools for project selection and underwriting, D-Sun chooses projects with strong economic fundamentals and covers all upfront development and construction costs.  Our host partners can confidently sign a D-Sun PPA knowing that we have the finance and the experience to get their solar project built and operating.

Commercial rooftops are prime real-estate for solar photovoltaics. Distributed Sun converts this unused space into energy savings.

Solar carports provide shaded parking using an array of solar panels, keeping cars cool in the summer while harvesting energy from the sun.

Vacant land can be turned into large solar farms using ground mounted solar arrays that generate revenue.
