Where We Build

Preferred Buildings

D-SUN is able to apply its project management and design expertise to a wide variety of project types. Each type of building structure presents unique challenges and opportunities for using solar power to supply a portion of the on-site energy use.

Our relationships with fully vetted panel manufacturers, racking system designers, electrical engineers, and construction specialists allow us to customize solutions for many different building types. From hotels and office buildings to solar breweries and carports, we can assemble an experienced and qualified team to assess any opportunity for installation of a photovoltaic system.

Current Projects

Several projects funded by sunONE, a Solar Energy Investment Company (SEIC) managed by D-SUN, are currently under construction in Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. To view short descriptions of these projects, please click on the building images in the right column.

Selection Criteria

The rooftops best suited for solar development by D-SUN share a number of characteristics: 10,000+ square feet of flat, unencumbered space; five or less years in age or since the last restoration; high energy consumption; and a stable occupancy – either by the owner or a long-term tenant.

Office: Project Profile

Close

Located in Southern New Jersey and sporting such premier tenants as Comcast and the Harris School of Business, the Voorhees Corporate Center will host an ~200 kW solar array. D-SUN will fully finance the significant upfront costs of the array as well as provide clean solar power at a discount rate for the next 20 years.

Hotel: Project Profile

Close

In an effort to reduce electricity costs and become more eco-conscious, the Hilton Hotel near BWI Airport has partnered with D-SUN to construct a 49.68 kW solar photovoltaic system on the premises. D-SUN will not only fully finance and construct the system, but will provide monitoring and maintenance services free of cost. The property owner will purchase all power produced at a set rate over a 20 year term, benefiting from both a reduced and more stable cost of electricity.

Data Center: Project Profile

Close

In order to reduce the high energy costs of its data center operations, System Source partnered with D-SUN to install a 52.92 kW solar photovoltaic rooftop system. Through a solar power-purchase-agreement (SPPA), D-SUN will supply electricity to System Source for a 20-year period at a rate lower than that of the local utility. The partnership with D-SUN allowed System Source to avoid entirely the significant upfront costs of the system.

Under the agreement, D-SUN provides system monitoring and maintenance at no cost to the host. At the end of the SPPA term, System Source can purchase the facility at a fraction of the system’s initial cost.

Light Industrial: Project Profile

Close

The Buccini Pollin Group Headquarters located in Wilmington Delaware splits its space with EJ Deseta HVAC Services’ light manufacturing facilities. In order to offset some of the massive energy costs from EJ Deseta, BPG and D-SUN have partnered to build a ~250 kW array on the roof of the building. The partnership with D-SUN allows BPG and EJ Deseta to entirely avoid all upfront and ongoing costs of the system.

Brewery: Project Profile

Close

An environmentally and energy conscious microbrewer will partner with D-SUN in the summer of 2010 to install a 32 kW solar photovoltaic rooftop array at one of their planned microbreweries. The rooftop array will produce energy roughly equivalent to that consumed by the beer brewing equipment, creating an entire line of microbrews powered by the sun. Under a Solar Power Purchase Agreement, D-SUN will fully fund and construct the array, as well as provide system monitoring and maintenance at no cost to the host. Power produced by the array will be sold at a discounted rate when compared to the cost from the local utility.
